Grannoms, Hendricksons, Blue Wing Olive, Caddis, March Brown & Stoneflies…
Have been seeing it all the last few weeks. Water flows have been up and down but fishing has been consistent. On the lakes, Callibaetis and large Midges have been coming off steady.
Streams are in good shape for the weekend all over the state. Trees will start taking a lot of water from the ground now and we will quickly see lower flows unless we get some rain. We have been fishing the Little J a lot during the Grannom Hatch. See Video Below. We did see some fish eating Grannoms off the surface, but had much more consistent dry fly bite on olives. Swinging wets and tight line nymphing took the majority of fish. Have been fishing the 10″6 3wt H3 lately. It is now available to order through Orvis. The Plus one nymph has been a top producer lately as well. Not many big fish caught lately, but numbers of fish have been great!
Here is what the USGS looks like. If you have not used USGS your missing out!
